
About Transaction Services Our Transaction Services Team provide services across the whole deal continuum, delivering a fully connected solution to our clients. We assist clients to gather and analyse data to support entry decision, be it through establishing greenfield operations, merger or acquisition, alliance, or licensing arrangements. We bring in-depth knowledge in the following fields: - Operations due diligence in the context of a transaction or restructuring of the operations of a target business, including synergy reviews
- Developing and implementing plans to separate a business from its parent either as part of a transaction or otherwise
- Developing and implementing post deal plans (‘first 100 days’) for improving the operations of a target business or the combined operations of a merged entity.
Job description and responsibilities: The PwC Canada-China Client Relationship Executive (CRE) is a key part of PwC’s Canada-China business strategy. The person in this role is to identify opportunities for PwC Canada and China to provide revenue-producing services to Chinese companies investing in Canada. - Liaising in the China market with contacts within and outside PwC China;
- Identifying target companies in China that are potential investors in Canadian companies, particularly in the mining, energy and forest products sectors;
- Establishing contact with target companies in China and introducing partners from PwC Canada, and other marketing activities.
Some of the key activities will include but not limited to: - Develop and maintain relationships with Chinese companies in the mining, energy and forest products sectors that are interested in investing in Canadian companies; arrange meetings with these companies for partners from PwC Canada on a frequent basis;
- Develop and maintain relationships with Chinese state and provincial government entities that could introduce us to Chinese entities that wish to make investments in Canada or establish a business in Canada, such as: CSRC, NDRC, MOF, MOFCOM, SASAC; Chinese law firms with international practices; Chinese investment funds with focus on Canada or international mining/energy/forest industries; Chinese banks with offices in Canada such as BoC and ICBC; industry associations in China;
- Develop and maintain relationships with Canadian organizations in China that could introduce us to Chinese entities that wish to make investments in Canada or establish a business in Canada, such as: Canadian embassy officials; Canadian trade office; provinces’ trade offices; CCBC in BJ and SH; TMX office in BJ; Canadian law firms in BJ and SH; Canadian banks and investment banks with offices in China; China offices of Canadian industry associations if any;
- From interaction with the entities and people noted above, determine who are the potential investors bound for Canada; develop target list; develop strategy to obtain access to decision-makers to present PwC Canada qualifications and arrange meetings for industry specialists from PwC China and Canada; develop relationships with decision-makers and influencers within the companies; develop proposal opportunities for targeted companies;
- Work with PwC Canada teams to develop strategy for target accounts; bring in PwC China team members where applicable opportunities are identified;
- Develop cooperative relationship with CREs of the PwC China and Canadian firms, to understand how they operate in the China market and adopt their approach where applicable;
- Maintain data on conferences and events in China related to investment in or doing business in Canada, and attend where beneficial, to network, gain industry insights and represent the firm in the marketplace; recommend those that should be attended by PwC Canada;
- Recommend marketing materials for use in the China market and assist in amending material from PwC Canada and China as needed; and
- Participate in periodic conference calls with China Business Network in Canada; provide updates on progress against plan.
Requirements: - Have experience in working with Chinese companies in doing business in oversea territories (i.e. North America preferred);
- Have existing contacts with Chinese enterprises, trade organizations and/or chambers;
- Strong experience in sales will be a plus;
- Strong communication and writing skill in Chinese particularly to Chinese clients;
- Degree holder in Business Management, Marketing or a related discipline;
- Strong organizational skills and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision;
- Excellent communication skills both in Chinese and in English;
- Ability to think laterally and multi-task;
- Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm; and
- A positive and willing-to-learn attitude.
